Description :

The City of Galax is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of part-time Animal Shelter Technician at the Galax-Carroll-Grayson Animal Shelter.  The successful candidate’s duties includes  participating in animal shelter operations; utilize social media and other resources to advertise and promote the adoption of the animals; recruits and develops relationships with licensed animal rescue organizations to advance the placement of animals; preparing and maintaining files and records; performs general maintenance, custodial and grounds keeping duties in and around the facility; administers medications and treatments.  

Possession of, or ability to acquire DEA Drug License, euthanasia and animal facility operations certifications within six months of employment.  Other training or certifications that may be required by the Commonwealth of Virginia concerning animal shelter operations and possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
