Deputy Clerk of the Carroll County Circuit Court 

Position Description
The Clerk of the Circuit Court for Carroll County offers the position of a full-time Deputy Clerk to serve as the main front counter representative for all duties, responsibilities, and processing of matters regarding deed recordings, licenses, fine payments, concealed handgun permits, passports, and other general responsibilities for the Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk’s office in order to deliver prompt, accurate, and efficient services to all citizens and members/officers of the Court. 

Required Qualifications
 - High school diploma or equivalent
 - General office experience utilizing computer operations, document scanners, word  
   processing, spreadsheet development, accounting, and database management skills
 - Excellent oral and written communication skills
 - Demonstrate excellent organization, detail, professionalism, and file data accuracy skills
 - Have excellent customer service skills
 - Must demonstrate skillset in the file processing of court documents and the  
   acknowledgment of the sensitivity in nature of information processing and services
   provided
 - Able to work and handle multiple duties in a fast-paced environment 

Preferred Qualifications
 - Previous work experience in a court or government office setting
 - Associate’s Degree from an accredited, higher education institution in paralegal
   studies, office management, administrative support, or related field

Job Responsibilities
Significant duties include, but are not limited to the following:
 - Properly handling all responsibilities and processing of concealed handgun permits,
   marriage, notary public, U.S. passports, and other licensures
 - Accurately process and record all land records, judgments, and other documents timely
 - Properly receipt fines and fees for criminal cases that include payment agreements set
    forth by the Court
 - Assist citizens in the deed room and archives room
 - Be willing to participate in trainings offered by the Virginia Department of Judicial
   Services via webinars or training held in other jurisdictions across the Commonwealth of
   Virginia.
 - Acceptable to any cross-training of duties or other duties assigned within the Carroll
   County Circuit Court Clerk’s office deemed necessary by the Clerk of the Circuit Court for
   efficient office services
 - Perform general office responsibilities that include file processing, completing bi-weekly
   timesheets, answering phones/email, filing, office support, and providing prompt and
   professional customer service
 - Must be able to successfully work individually and as part of a team

 This position reports directly to the Clerk of the Circuit Court,  Mr. Gerald R. Goad
